You have always heard about the paid news in the media industry. Well, this time, they had taken this too far and Mumbai Mirror and TOI should feel guilty about doing this to a guy, Chirag Anil Bothra. Yes, we are talking about the error in Mumbai Mirror and what they did next will shock you.
Just a day back, Chirag Anil Bothra posted a message on the page of Mumbai Mirror claiming that his pictures were used in the wrong article. The guy further requested for the error to be rectified soon. The claim made by Chirag Anil Bothra came to true! Mumbai Mirror had published an article on three drunk people who were sent to jail for biting and spitting on cops.
And by MISTAKE, they published Chirag Anil Bothra’s image as one of the accused whose name was given as Chirag Vishal Bothra.
He wrote: ‘To the Editor,
The article says Bitting, Spitting on cops after drunk driving lands 3 in jail. You have named 3 children being one of them Chirag Vishal Bothra with a photograph, the photograph happens to be mine and my name is Chirag Anil Bothra and I’m not at all connected to this incident. How can you tarnish any one’s reputation like this by putting the wrong image and must get your facts right before printing anything on paper. My reputation is at stake and I demand an apology immediately in your newspaper tomorrow with the correction and with a said photograph. Please take a note on this or I’ll be forced to go a legal way. This is without prejudice to my legal rights!
Chirag Anil Bothra’
Now, Chirag Anil Bothra’s image appear again on the same article published by TOI and it seems like Chirag is still not aware of this case. Inspite of writing a letter to Mumbai Mirror, the image was used again in the wrong article.
A day after Bothra messaged them on Facebook, Mumbai Mirror issued an apology, In our story, “Biting, spitting on cops after drunk driving lands 3 in jail” (MM, June 17) we carried a wrong picture. The picture was captioned Chirag Vishal Bothra was that of Chirag Anil Bothra, who is not an accused in the case. We extend our apologies to Chirag Anil Bothra and his family for the distress this inadvertent error has caused.’
Well, people who were furious about this message want to sue Mumbai Mirror for this because of a very strong reason. As the people who will read the story are not the only who will read the apology posted a few days later.
